This Privacy Policy explains which personal data Marook processes when you use the app.
Account data: name/username, email address, password authentication, profile photo, internal user ID, plan status, AI usage counters, and timestamps for registration, updates, and accepted notices.
Content data: books you create, author names, saved highlights, AI explanations, photos of book or study pages, and technical storage paths.
Purchase and subscription data: product ID, transaction ID, subscription status, expiration date or next renewal date, and transaction data provided by Apple to verify your subscription.
Usage and security data: login status, sessions, AI usage logs, rate-limit information, and security-relevant server logs required for operation, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.
Permissions: camera and photo library access are used only when you want to capture or select photos of book pages.
We process data to provide accounts, store your library and flashcards, detect highlighted text in images, generate explanations, verify in-app purchases and subscriptions, manage usage limits, prevent abuse, provide support, and meet legal obligations.
Photos and text excerpts are sent to AI services when you trigger a scan or explanation feature.
Where the GDPR applies, we process data to perform a contract or take pre-contractual steps, based on your consent, to meet legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
